
Clavell Continues Success In Pro Basketball

Gilberto Clavell, one of three Sam Houston State men's basketball players who have earned NCAA Division I All-America honors, continues to achieve now in international professional basketball.
The 26-year-old forward has returned to his former club Maratonistas de Coamo in the Puerto Rico professional league.
The 6-7, 275-pound former Bearkat last season at Hapoel Migdal Haemek in the Israeli National League. He ranked third in the league in scoring with 22.8 points per game. He also totaled 9.2 rebounds per contest, earning Eurobasket.com All-Israeli National League honors.
Clavell was a two-time All-Southland Conference performer for Sam Houston playing on the 2010 league championship team. He is one of only two Bearkats to earn post season Southland All-Tournament honors two years in a row.
Eight years ago, Clavell was a member of the Puerto Rico national team at the Under 19 World Championships in Serbia.
Clavell has played previously professionally in Finland (Kouvot) and Puerto Rico (Caciques).
