
Bearkat men, women regionally ranked by USTFCCCA

The Sam Houston State men's and women's track and field teams are both ranked in the top 8 of the most recent US Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association regional rankings.
The Bearkat men have jumped two schools to No. 6 in the South Central Region and the women are up to No. 8.
The men's team is now just ahead of Baylor and also moved past Texas State. Texas A&M is the No. 1 team in the region as well as the country. The Kats are sitting just behind UTSA for a spot in the top five. Also ranked ahead of the Kats are traditional powers Texas, LSU and Arkansas. SFA (No. 10) and Southeastern Louisiana (No. 11) are the other Southland Conference schools in the top 15.
On the women's side, the Kats are now in 8th in the region moving past Arkansas State. Only Northwestern State (No. 10) and SFA (No. 11) are the other Southland teams ranked in the top 15 in the region.
Individually, the Bearkats have several athletes that have marks ranking among the top 25 in the country. Tyler Adams currently has the No. 22 mark in the high jump and is the No. 2 ranked freshman in the country.
Jay Roberson currently has the No. 25 mark in the country in the pole vault.
On the women's side, Ashley Jenkins is the top-ranked Bearkat, currently holding the 10th- best mark in the country in the hammer throw. Danielle Demas has the No. 19 best time in the country in the 100-meter hurdles.
The Kats will be competing in California this weekend at the Mount Sac Relays. The Bearkats will hold their only home event of the spring on April 30 and the Southland Conference Championship will be held May 8-10 in Hammond, La.
