Sam Houston's Southland Conference baseball series opener at Abilene Christian Friday evening has been postponed due to rain. The Bearkats will play a 2 p.m. doubleheader Saturday.
Coming off a 5-0 victory over the University of Texas in Austin last Wednesday, the Bearkats have won six straight games to stand 20-19 overall and 11-7 in league play. The Wildcats enter the series at 8-26 overall and 6-9 in league play.
ACU has played three of the best teams in the country over the last 10 days and come out on the losing side in each of those three games. But not without a fight. Last Monday (April 6), the Wildcats lost to No. 2 TCU, 4-3, and Tuesday night ACU lost at home to No. 19 Texas Tech, 7-6. Wednesday night in College Station, the Wildcats dropped a 3-2 decision to No. 1-ranked Texas A&M at Blue Bell Park.
Sam Houston State is hitting .288 as a team, led by Travis Lee, who is hitting .340 on the season. Spence Rahm is among Southland league leaders in batting average (.338), home runs (five) and RBI (29).
Andrew Godail (2-4, 2.28 ERA) will get the start in the first game Saturday, followed by Logan Boyd (4-3, 3.71) on Saturday and Sam Odom (2-4, 4.35 ) on Sunday.
