Matt Viverette Named Southland Athlete of Week

Sam Houston senior hurdler Matt Viverette was chosen Southland Conference Men's Track Athlete of the Week the league announced Wednesday.
Viverette had an amazing weekend winning events in two different track meets.
At the Long Beach State Beach Invitational, he won the men's 110-meter hurdles with a 13.85, the Southland's best time in the event this year and one of the top times in the nation. He also won the 400 meter hurdles with a mark of 51.82.
More than 50 universities from conferences across in the nation competed in the Long Beach event.
The day before, Viverette won the 400 meters at the Mount Sac Relays with a time of 51.78. He also placed third in the 110 hurdles with a mark of 14.02.
Next scheduled action for the Bearkat men's and women's track and field team is this weekend at meets hosted by Texas State in San Marcos and Rice in Houston.
