JANINE KUWAHARA NCAA VIDEO FEATURE
Wednesday April 15 was an exciting day for Sam Houston women's bowler Janine Kuwahara.
First, she and her teammates held their practice round at the Tropicana Lanes in preparation for the beginning of the NCAA Women's Bowling Championships Thursday.
Then, an NCAA Champions Magazine cover story about her journey from her home in the Philippines to Huntsville, Texas, as a college bowler was featured on the internet (a link to the story is at the top of the page).
Finally, Wednesday night at the annual NCAA Women's Bowling Championships players' banquet, Kuwahara was named to the National Ten Pin Coaches Association 2015 All-America squad.
The sophomore who led Sam Houston in total pins in traditional team matches this year with a 201.6 average is one of 26 intercollegiate bowlers so honored this year.
She becomes the fourth Sam Houston women's bowler to be honored as All-America in the five-year history of the program. Previous Bearkat women's bowling All-America honorees have been Kimi Davidson (2013, 2014), Dayna Galganski (2011, 2012) and Michelle Secours (2012, 2013).
