Bearkats earn All-Southland Conference honors

Ten Sam Houston student-athletes earned All-Southland Conference honors in 14 total events at last weekend's league outdoor track and field championships hosted by Southeastern Louisiana in Hammond.
Justin Jenkins (100m dash, 4x100 relay), Matt Viverette (110m hurdles), Tyler Adams (high jump), Dedrick Brooks (4x100 relay), Rodney Jones (4x100 relay) and Christopher Jefferson (4x100 relay) were first team selections after winning their events in the men's competition.
Jordan Grady (400m dash), Ruth Amaku (400m hurdles) and Ashley Jenkins (hammer) earned first team honors after taking gold in their specialties. A total of 14 Sam Houston women earned all-league honors for 19 performances.
