Kats, Cards game suspended in the 6th

After an hour rain delay to start and then a lightning delay in the 6th inning, officials decided to suspend the baseball game with Lamar until Saturday at 11 a.m.
The Bearkats were leading 1-0 heading to the sixth when lightning in the area forced a stoppage.
Through the first five innings, Sam Houston pitcher Andrew Godail was dominant, striking out nine, including the final four batters he faced. Lamar pitcher Danny Fernandez was just about as good, allowing just one run on a double play ball with the bases loaded to score Hayden Simerly.
After game one is finished, the Bearkats will hold a senior day recognition before playing the second game of the series. There will not be a third game this weekend. Anyone with tickets for either of the first two games of the series can use them for Saturday's games.
The Southland Conference baseball tournament will get started on Wednesday in Sugar Land.
