In Game 2 of the series, the Cardinals answered first, scoring runs in the second and third innings. That lead help up until the 8th.

Colt Atwood led off the inning with a double, and two batters later scored on a double by Hayden Simerly. Trevor Winne then tied the game with two outs, singling to right to plate Simerly.

But the Kats left the winning run stranded at third and in the 10th, Lamar scored the game winner to split the series.

The Kats finish the year in fifth place in the Southland Conference and will open up tournament play on Wednesday night against McNeese State. The game is scheduled for a 7 p.m. start and will be broadcast by ESPN3.
