Viverette, Jenkins advance in NCAA West Prelims

Two Bearkat men advanced to the quarterfinals at the NCAA West Preliminary Meet Thursday in Austin at the University of Texas.
Matt Viverette qualified with a 19th place finish in the 400 meter hurdles with a time of 52.01 seconds. Justin Jenkins moves on in the 100 meter dash after a 10.17 clocking for a 14th place individual finish.
If either or both Viverette and Jenkins finish among the top 12 in this weekend's quarterfinal, they will earn a berth in the NCAA National Championships in Eugene, Oregon, June 10-13.
Sam Houston's Tyler Adams placed 25th in the high jump with a mark of six feet, 11.75 inches. Rodney Jones was 44th in the 400 meter dash with a mark of 47.99 seconds.
