Sarah Allison voted Academic All-Southland

Sarah Allison, who played four positions this year for Sam Houston while producing a 3.60 grade point average as a graduate student has been named to the 2015 Academic All-Southland Conference softball squad.
Allison, a fifth-year senior, started every game for the Bearkats including 26 contests at shortstop, 15 starts in right field, five as designated player and one at first base. She completed her career as Sam Houston's second-leading all-time home run hitter (31).
She led the 2015 team with nine home runs and produced a .477 slugging average this year to earn honorable mention selection of the 2015 All-Southland softball team.
A graduate student completing her master's degree in exercise science, Allison has been selected to the Academic All-Southland squad for the second time in her career.
The all-academic teams are voted on by the head coaches, sports information directors and academic/compliance administrators from each Southland institution. Student-athletes must possess a minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA, have completed one full academic year at the nominating institution and participated in at least 50 percent of the team's competition to qualify for the all-academic squad.
