
Michael Holyfield to play NBA Summer League

Michael Holyfield, starting center for the Sam Houston men's basketball team the past four years, will be playing for the Memphis Grizzlies in NBA summer league action July 4-10.
The Grizzlies are one of ten NBA teams participating in the Southwest Airlines Orlando Pro Summer League hosted by the Orlando Magic at the Amway Center.
The 25-game, seven-day event will feature the Grizzlies, two teams from the Magic and the Brooklyn Nets, Charlotte Hornets, Detroit Pistons, Indiana Pacers, Los Angeles Clippers, Miami Heat and Oklahoma City Thunder.
Holyfield, a 6-11 four-year letterman from Manzano High School in Albuquerque, New Mexico, helped lead the Bearkats to a record of 80 victories including 24-11 and 26-9 marks his junior and senior years that earned Sam Houston NCAA post-season berths in the CollegeInsider.com Tournament.
Holyfield completed his career as Sam Houston's fourth all-time leader in blocked shots (105) and fifth all-time in rebounds (769). His 86 blocked shots during the 2014-15 season are a school record.
