Q&A: Bearkat soccer senior Katie Bunch

Each week leading up to the 2015 Sam Houston State soccer season, we'll spotlight one of 10 seniors. As a unit, the class has helped vault the Kats into a consistent competitor in the Southland Conference. Last season, the Kats posted their highest win total in league play at 8-2 and took second. With nine starters and 15 letter winners returning in 2015, SHSU seeks its first conference title in program history.
Today's interview features senior Katie Bunch. Last season, the Conroe product played in 13 games, starting in four as a defender for the Bearkats, while helping bolster a Sam Houston defense that allowed just 1.47 goals per game.
Question: Who is your favorite soccer player?
Bunch: Megan Rapinoe is my favorite soccer player.
Question: What is your favorite soccer memory?
Bunch: Getting the first assist of the game in my first start against Northwestern State this past year is my favorite Sam Houston State soccer memory and winning state my freshman year of high school is my favorite soccer memory ever.
Question: Any favorite television show?
Bunch: The Walking Dead is my favorite show if I choose one, but I don't watch very much TV.
Question: If you could visit anywhere, where would it be?
Bunch: I would like to tour Europe eventually if I could.
Question: What is your favorite thing about Sam Houston State?
Bunch: My favorite thing about Sam Houston State is definitely the memories and friends I've made through the soccer program.
Question: If you didn't play soccer, what sport would you be playing?
Bunch: I would probably play basketball if I didn't play soccer, but I don't know because I only played for 3 years. Haha.
Question: What music pumps you up to play?
Bunch: I only really listen to country music, which isn't really pump-up music to play.
Question: What are your personal goals heading into the season?
Bunch: My goals heading into this season are just to give everything I have to give and to make this a season to remember. I want to go into every workout, practice and game like it'll be my last because this is it.
Question: What are your hobbies?
Bunch: My hobbies include hanging out with my friends, fishing and being at the lake.
Question: What is your favorite food?
Bunch: My favorite food is chicken fettuccine alfredo (even though we can't have it before games)
Question: What social media site do you use the most?
Bunch: I'm on Instagram the most.
Question: What is your favorite holiday?
Bunch: Christmas is definitely my favorite holiday.
Question: In three words, how would you describe yourself?
Bunch: Stubborn, determined, and caring.
Question: What advice would you give to younger players?
Bunch: Some advice I would give to younger players would be to never give up and always keep working hard no matter what. Hard work never goes unnoticed.
