The latest installment of Meet the Bearkat volleyball team features outside hitter Brooke White.
The sophomore criminal justice major from Fort Worth played in 27 matches last season, notching 144 kills including double-figure performances in four matches.
Question: How old were you when you started volleyball? 12.
Brooke: I was 10 years old.
Question: What is your favorite volleyball memory?
Brooke: Winning the state championship my senior year in high school after finishing as runner-up the three years before that.
Question: Who is your favorite athlete?
Brooke: Flo Hymann
Question: What are your favorite TV shows?
Brooke: Friends and Gossip Girl
Question: What's the most fun part of volleyball practice?
Brooke: When we scrimmage at the end of practice
Question: What's the least fun part of volleyball practice?
Brooke: Warming up
Question: If you could visit anywhere, where would it be?
Brooke: Paris, France
Question: What is your favorite thing about Sam Houston?
Brooke: The small town feel of Huntsville and the campus
Question: If you didn't play volleyball, what sport would you be playing?
Brooke: Basketball or track and field
Question: Any pre-match superstitions?
Brooke: No
Question: What music pumps you up to play?
Brooke: Line dances like “Footloose”
Question: What are your personal goals heading into the season?
Brooke: To be a conference player of the week
Question: What are your hobbies?
Brooke: Shopping and reading

Brooke: Potatoes

Brooke: Instagram

Brooke: Christmas.
Question: In three words, how would you describe yourself?
Brooke: Patient, indecisive and hard-working
Question: What piece of advice would you give to younger players?
Brooke: Never give up on your dreams no matter what other people tell you. If you want something bad enough, you can reach it. You just have to keep working hard.
Brooke White and the rest of the Bearkats begin the 2015 volleyball season on Friday and Saturday August 28-29 with four matches in the annual Sam Houston Invitational Tournament at Bernard G. Johnson Coliseum.
