After a 4-1, Sam Houston has a commanding lead in total pin fall for the tournament, with a 349-pin lead on the second place hosts.
“Overall today was a very solid day. We had a game plan and attempted to execute it as close as possible,” said head coach Brad Hagen. “The transition today was pretty kind to us for the most part and I'm hopeful we'll continue to manage it well tomorrow.”
The Bearkats posted wins over three top-25 squads on Friday and have positioned themselves for another tournament championship. The only loss of the day was to the host school UMES.
“The lanes can play very tricky high end to low end and we had to have a lot of trust today in our shot making,” Hagen said. “Hats off to UMES who bowled great against us. We just made a few critical mistakes and you can't do that against an opponent that's striking.”
Action continues Saturday at 8:30 a.m. with the finals set for Sunday.
