After an unbeaten day, the Sam Houston State bowlers remain in first place at the Hawk Classic.
The Kats extended their lead over hosts Maryland Eastern Shore and will head into the bracket play on Sunday as the No. 1 seeded team.
“Today was another strong showing for us. Despite the very slow pace and long day we were able to keep our composure and make a lot of quality shots,” said head coach Brad Hagen. “Sunday is all about coming out swinging and remaining focused. We've led for two days but once match play starts, that moment is the only thing that matters.”
Individually, Janine Kuwahara led the way with a 223 average, including a high game of 253. She finished the day in third overall individually. Heather Penatzer is 12th overall with an average of 213.
As a team, the Kats knocked off four more ranked opponents and are 10-1 for the tournament. Final round begins Sunday morning.
