Season tickets for Sam Houston football are still available but, with the excitement high for the coming 2016 football season, the time to buy is now.
The Bearkats are the favorite in the Southland Conference race this fall in each of the four preseason preview magazines released thus far this summer. That includes the highly respected Dave Campbell's Texas Football.
Wednesday, the preseason poll of the league's head coaches will be announced at Southland Football Media Day in Lake Charles, La.
Sam Houston has been ranked No. 2 in the FCS national picks by Athlon, Sporting News and Lindy's Sports.
As one of only three teams that have earned NCAA Division I Football National Championship playoff s each of the last five years, the Bearkats return 16 starters and 36 additional lettermen. Last year's squad that rolled up a 11-4 record and reached the FCS semifinals for the fourth time in five years.
All-Southland Conference performers returning to lead the Bearkats include running back Corey Avery, wide receiver Yedidiah Louis, kicking specialist Luc Swimberghe and defensive end P. J. Hall.
Sam Houston leads the league in picks on the 2016 preseason All-Southland Conference team announced last week. The teams were picked by vote of the league's head coaches.
“Season tickets are the life blood of our football program,” Sam Houston head coach K. C. Keeler said. “The support we get from our hometown fans makes a big difference down on the field.”
Bearkat football has been consistently competitive in the national championship chase since 2011. The national media has taken notice and fans can feel the momentum growing with recent facility upgrades (chairback and ADA seating, scoreboards, field turf, etc.). Sam Houston is no longer just building good teams. The Bearkats are building elite programs.
Besides the fun and excitement of Bearkat football at Elliott T. Bowers Stadium and at NRG Stadium in Houston, there are plenty of other benefits for season ticket holders:
Prime Seat Location. Season ticket holders receive the same seat to all five home games at Bowers Stadium and a ticket to the Battle of the Piney Woods at NRG Stadium. Call now to select your seat location and receive the best seats in Bowers Stadium.
Parking Pass. Bearkat Champion chairback purchasers will receive one complimentary parking pass per account immediately adjacent to Bowers Stadium (minimum two (2) tickets purchased).
Gifts. All season ticket holders will receive commemorative season tickets, a special Orange Out shirt for each season ticket purchased, and two Sam Houston car flags per account.
Playoffs. The Bearkats have hosted at least one playoff game at Bowers Stadium each of the past five seasons, while hosting all rounds in 2011. Season ticket holders receive the opportunity to purchase their same seat for all home playoff games.
National Championship. The Bearkats have been to two FCS National Championship games in the past five years. All season ticket holders receive the opportunity to purchase tickets to the National Championship.
Priority Points. All season ticket holders receive Bearkat Champion priority points. Priority points help determine the status of seating locations, access to premium events, ability to upgrade season ticket locations each season and premium parking priority at Bowers Stadium.
