
By the numbers: Kats continue surge

Each week this season, we'll take a look at the numbers you need to know following Sam Houston State football's most recent matchup. On Saturday, the second-ranked Sam Houston State football team improved to 3-0 with a 52-16 victory at Houston Baptist.
· Saturday's win marked head coach K.C. Keeler's 199th victory in his 23 years, moving his all-time record to 199-86-1. Only 75 coaches have ever reached the 200-win milestone including just 14 who are actively coaching.
· Wide receiver Yedidiah Louis notched 111 receiving yards against the Huskies moving him up to fifth in Bearkat career lore with 2,070. It was Louis's second straight 100-plus yard receiving game and seventh of his career.
· Sophomore running back Remus Bulmer recorded a career high 124 rushing yards on 19 carries on Saturday. The Missouri City product bested his previous mark of 98 against Incarnate Word a season ago while recording his first multi-touchdown game with two on the ground.
· Since Houston Baptist joined the Southland Conference, the Bearkats have outscored the Huskies a combined 265-30 in four games. Sam Houston defeated HBU 74-0 in 2013, 76-0 in 2014, 63-14 in 2015 and 52-16 this year.
· The Bearkats continued their surge offensively, closing the week ranked first in total offense (632.7 yards per game), first in scoring offense (51.7 points per game), second in passing offense (376.7 yards per game) and eighth in rushing offense (256.0 yards per game).
· In the Southland Conference, Sam Houston ranks first in several categories including completion percentage (.604), kickoff returns (30.36 per return), net punting (39.54), fewest sacks allowed (0.33 per game), tackles for loss allowed (3.33) and team tackles for loss (10.7).
· Individually, with an average of 37.0 yards per kick return, Jaylen Harris ranks second in the country. Quarterback Jeremiah Briscoe is also second nationally with 345 passing yards per game. Remus Bulmer ranks first in the country with an average of 8.00 yards per carry while P.J. Hall is second in tackles for loss (3.3). Wide receiver Derrick Dick is fourth nationally with 25.83 yards per catch.
· Sam Houston quarterback Jeremiah Briscoe needs to 82 yards to eclipse 3,000 career passing yards in a Bearkat uniform. The junior has passed for 300-plus yards and three touchdowns in each of the first three games of the 2016 seasons. Briscoe's 369 yards (26 of 47) passing against the Huskies marked a season high.
· Place kicker Luc Swimberghe accounted for 10 points on Saturday, moving his career total to 291. The senior ranks second in career kicking points, trailing only Miguel Antonio (324) and is third in career points behind Antonio and Timothy Flanders (420). Swimberghe's 29-yard made field goal in the second quarter was his first field goal of the season and 32nd career, ranking fifth.
