The Bearkats finished the first day of the Brunswick Bearcat Open unbeaten and stand in fourth place.
Sam Houston won all five baker matches on Friday and carry a 194 average into Saturday's action.
“We did a good job at grinding through spares for the most and were able to string strikes at times,” said head coach Brad Hagen. “We need to continue to build trust in ourselves individually and fill frames. The conditions are very demanding and the room for error is minimal but as long as we stay out of our own way, day two should be solid as well.”
Action continues Saturday for the Kats with five traditional matches.
