HUNTSVILLE – The Sam Houston State Bearkats won their final three games of the Louisiana Tech Classic over the weekend and will try and extend that streak even further when they host Prairie View A&M for a doubleheader on Wednesday at the Bearkat Softball Complex.

Sam Houston saw its offense pick up towards the end of the Louisiana Tech Classic over the weekend, scoring 21 runs over its last three games. As a team the Kats are hitting .271 while Tori Koerselman continues to pace the offense from the leadoff spot, hitting .405 with 11 runs scored and six stolen bases.
The Kats also continue to get good offensive production from its freshmen as Kaitlynn Dawson and Tiffany Thompson stand tied for the team leads with seven RBI apiece, while Megan Crosby has a pair of homers.
In the circle, Tayler Atkinson's 2.51 ERA and 30.2 innings pitched are a team best, while sophomore Lindsey McLeod is holding hitters to just a .198 average through 24.0 innings of work.
The Panthers are just 1-9 this season with their lone win of the season coming last week in the opener of a doubleheader at Houston Baptist. They dropped four games over the weekend at the Abilene Christian Tournament, falling twice to ACU and twice to Northern Colorado.
SERIES vs PRAIRIE VIEW
Sam Houston holds a 40-1 all-time record against the Panthers, winning the last six since Prairie View picked up a win in the 2012 season. The Kats already own a win over the Panthers this season, knocking off Prairie View by a 7-5 margin in the second game of the season at the ULM Mardi Gras Classic.
