HUNTSVILLE – The Sam Houston State soccer team is set to close out Southland Conference play with a 6 p.m. contest at Stephen F. Austin on Friday, Oct. 26. Live Stats will be available for the Kats' last regular-season match.

- The squad picked up its first overtime victory of the season at Nicholls thanks to a game-winning goal from Katy Johnson in the 93rd minute. Prior to last Friday's contest, the Bearkats had dropped two matches and tied three times.
- Boasting nearly half of the Bearkats' assists this season, senior Meredith Carlson leads the squad with four assists in 15 matches.
- Senior Lindsey Bienski leads the Sam Houston State offense with four goals on the season. She picked up her first goal in the Kats' season opener against San Diego and netted her second in Sam Houston's contest at Houston. She was the only Kat to score against Lamar, where she helped Sam Houston to a 1-1, double-overtime draw. Netting the game-winning goal against Northwestern State, she was instrumental in the Kats' first Southland Conference win of the season.
- Lindsey Bienski, Lexi Bullard and Katy Johnson are the only three Bearkats to record multiple goals this season. Bienski leads the way with four goals while Bullard and Johnson picked up their second goals of the season in the Kats' 2-1 win at Nicholls.
- With over 1,000 minutes in goal, senior Christina Hendershot ranks third in the league with 81 saves and third with 5.50 saves per match. Hendershot tallied a career-high 10 saves against Lamar and returned two days later with another 10 saves against McNeese. She boasts Sam Houston's only two shutouts of the season.
- In a rain-soaked effort, freshman Abby DeLozier racked up a career-high 14 saves against Abilene Christian on Friday, Oct. 19. She tallied four in the first half and an impressive 10 in the remaining 45 minutes.
- Earning the Kats' only league award this season, sophomore Courtney Pawlik
was named the Southland Conference Defensive Player of the Week on Aug. 21 thanks to standout performances against Utah State (8/16) and Louisiana (8/19). - Coming to the aid of the
Bearkat defense, junior Carlota Suarez Crespo suited up and spent nearly 40 minutes defending Sam Houston's goal at Southeastern Louisiana. Suarez Crespo brought in two saves for the Bearkats out of eight shots faced. - Playing aggressively, Sam Houston State has accumulated 180 fouls this season, which ranks second in the league behind Northwestern State's 184. The Kats have been issued 18 yellow cards over 17 matches.
Series History
Meeting first in 2003, the Ladyjacks hold a 16-3 all-time series lead over the Bearkats. Sam Houston's last victory dates back to the 2015 season when Jordan Jarzombek netted the only goal of the match.
