Galbreath named NABC all-district

KANSAS CITY – Sam Houston State Bearkat senior forward Christopher Galbreath Jr. added another accolade to his ledger this week as he was named to the NABC All-District 23 first team.
The National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) made the official announcement on Monday with players selected and voted on by member coaches of the NABC in NCAA Division I.
Galbreath was a first team all-Southland Conference performer in 2017-18, the first Bearkat player to land on the all-SLC first team since Gilberto Clavell in 2011. He averaged 14.8 points per game along with 7.8 rebounds per game, in addition to leading the Southland with 11 double-doubles.
He was joined on the NABC all-district first team by a quartet of peers from the Southland Conference, including Jordan Howard (UCA), Roddy Peters (NICH), Travin Thibodeaux (UNO) and Marlain Veal (SLU). Second team choices included Colton Weisbrod (Lamar), Joseph Kilgore (TAMUCC), Shannon Bogues (SFA), Martaveous McKnight (UAPB) and Ivy Smith Jr. (Grambling).
Galbreath and the rest of the Bearkats advanced to the semifinals of the SLC Tournament for the sixth consecutive season last week in Katy before falling to top-seeded Southeastern Louisiana. They have accepted a bid into the postseason as part of the CollegeInsider.com Tournament (CIT) and are still awaiting an opponent to be determined at a time, place and location still to be announced.
