HUNTSVILLE – Improving with a draw on Sunday, the Sam Houston State soccer team looks to grab a pair of home wins against Lamar (9/28) and McNeese (9/30) this weekend at Pritchett Field. Friday's matchup against Lamar is slated for 6:30 p.m. and Sunday's contest will begin at approximately 1 p.m.

- Earning her first collegiate start, freshman Abby DeLozier racked up a career-high six saves in the Bearkats' 1-1 draw against Houston Baptist. The newcomer posted a clean sheet with one save in the first half and collected four more in the second half. She was a stronghold for the Sam Houston defense in overtime and brought in one more save to keep the score even.
- Senior Lindsey Bienski leads the Kats with two goals on the season. She picked up her first goal of the season in the Kats' season opener against San Diego and netted her second in SHSU's contest at Houston. Bienski now boasts three goals in her career.
- Sam Houston snapped its seven-match losing streak with a 1-1, double-overtime draw at Houston Baptist (9/23). The deadlock marked the Kats' fourth overtime match of the season.
- Earning the Kats' only league award this season, sophomore Courtney Pawlik
was named the Southland Conference Defensive Player of the Week on Aug. 21 thanks to standout performances against Utah State (8/16) and Louisiana (8/19). - Equaling its total number of goals, six different Bearkats have recorded assists this season. Bailey Strong and Meredith Carlson produced assists in the Kats' season-opening win over Utah State (8/16) and Danielle Forsyth picked up the first assist of her career at Louisiana (8/19). Sammi Mayock collected one assist at Tulsa (9/2), Katy Johnson earned one at Houston (9/7) and freshman Grace Stine picked up her first career assist in the Kats' 1-1 draw at HBU (9/23).
- Sophomore forward Sammi Mayock netted SHSU's first goal of the season with a game-winning header in the second half against Utah State. Mayock sunk two goals as a freshman and her goal marks the Kats' only game-winner so far this season.
- Netting SHSU's only goal against the Golden Hurricanes, junior Lexi Bullard scored the first goal of her career to put the Bearkats on the board at Tulsa (9/2).
- Sam Houston State has collected 59 saves over the last 10 matches. Christina Hendershot, who has seen the majority of time in goal, leads with 44 saves while DeLozier has collected 13. The SHSU defense tallied two defensive saves, one against Utah State and the other against Tulsa.
- The Bearkats finished 4-5-2 in Southland Conference action last season, breaking out wins against Texas A&M-Corpus Christi, Northwestern State, Southeastern Louisiana
and Abilene Christian.
Series History
Lamar
Sam Houston holds an 8-4-0 all-time series lead over Lamar. The Kats are a near-perfect 3-1-0 against the Cardinals at Pritchett Field – the only home loss happened back in 2008 when LU squeaked by with a 2-1 victory.
McNeese
The Kats boast a narrow, 9-7-0 all-time series lead against the Cowgirls of McNeese. The Cowgirls have claimed three contests at Pritchett Field while the Kats have totaled five. Sam Houston went on an eight-match win streak from 2008-2015 but McNeese edged out the Kats 1-0 last season.
