Bearkats earn top seed at Tulane

In the opening tournament of the season, the Bearkat bowlers are right where they wanted to be, in position to win a title.
After two days at the Allstate Sugar Bowl Invitational, the Kats posted an 8-2 record and will enter Sunday's bracket play as the No. 1 seed. They will face Vanderbilt in the opening match of the championship bracket.
The Kats went 3-2 on Saturday, but were still able to hold off the Commodores in the total pinfall count to remain in first place.
“We didn't start or finish they way I'd like, but we still bowled well enough to be right where we wanted heading in to Sunday,” said head coach Brad Hagen. “We've got a big one to start the day and that will set the tone for us.”
Hayley Connelly led the way for the Bearkats on Saturday with a 203 average to place 8thoverall. Two other Kats placed in the top 20 individually, with Elise Chambers in 15thwith a 195 average and Bea Hernandez 20thwith a 191.
As a team, the Kats posted wins against Vanderbilt, Valpo and Lincoln Memorial.
