Krueger earns SLC weekly honor

FRISCO - Sam Houston State goalkeeper Tatum Krueger has been named the Southland Conference Goalkeeper of the Week, league officials announced Tuesday.
It is the first weekly award for Krueger, who is a true freshman, and the Bearkats this season. Sam Houston State is 7-7-1 overall and is tied for third in the SLC standings at 4-2-1.
Krueger had an outstanding weekend between the posts and played a key role in helping the Bearkats clinch a berth in the Southland Conference Tournament with wins over Southeastern Louisiana and Nicholls. She played all 180 minutes and did not allow a goal as Sam Houston State cruised to two shutouts.
The Mansfield native faced 13 total shots and recorded five saves in the two matches. She has not allowed a goal in 219 minutes going back to the first of the Bearkats' three-straight wins on Oct. 13 against McNeese.
Sophomore Caitlyn McDonald was honorable mention Defensive Player of the Week. She also had a hand in keeping the Lady Lions and Colonels off the board and added a goal from about 55 yards out on a free kick in the 3-0 victory over Southeastern Louisiana.
