Box Score THE WOODLANDS — The Sam Houston State tennis team swept all six singles matches to defeat Prairie View A&M 6-1 Saturday evening in the dual match season opener.
The match was originally scheduled to be a doubleheader at the McAdams Tennis Center in Huntsville, but inclement weather in the area forced the match to be moved to the indoor facility at The Woodlands Resort.

Sahaja Yamalapalli picked up where she left off last season, defeating Victoria Castillo 6-1, 6-0 in No. 1 singles. Sophomore
Isidora Zivkovic topped Jimena Castellanos 6-0, 6-1 in No. 2 singles.
In No. 3 singles, junior
Karla De La Luz Montalvo dropped Mahogani Green 6-2, 6-2, while senior Luisine Chobanyan topped Jessica Lackey 6-1, 6-1 in No. 4 singles.
Senior transfer Dena Nicolaou defeated Claudia Medina 6-1, 6-1 in No. 5 singles. Freshman
Emma Goedkoop won her SHSU spring debut 6-0, 6-2 over Salma Villalobos at No. 6 singles, and redshirt freshman
Ryli Ruffin won her match 6-2, 6-0.
Prairie View won the doubles point 2-1.
Yamalapalli and De La Luz Montalvo picked up the Bearkats' lone win, defeating Lackey and Castellanos 6-2 in No. 2 doubles.
Sam Houston State travels to College Station Sunday to face Texas A&M at 4:30 p.m.
