Suarez signs pro contract in Spain

Former Sam Houston State soccer player Carlota Suarez will continue her playing career after signing a professional contract overseas.

Suarez is joining Real Oviedo Femenino in her native country of Spain. The three-year letterwinner for the Bearkats started 22 matches and made 49 appearances in her SHSU career.

Suarez tied for second on the team with three goals this past season. Her 11 career goals ranks 10th all-time in school history.

"We are ecstatic to have another one of our graduated players go overseas to play professionally," head coach Tom Brown said. "Carlota has the opportunity to play professionally in her home country, and we can't be happier for her. She's worked hard to get to where she is and it's starting to pay off for her."
