Johnson nets weekly SLC track honor

FRISCO — Sam Houston State junior Zachary Johnson has been selected as the Southland Conference Field Athlete of the Week for his performance over the weekend in Albuquerque, New Mexico, the league announced Wednesday.

Johnson picked up a third-place finish in the triple jump with a distance of 15.13 meters while competing against student-athletes from Power 5 conferences at the Don Kirby Invitational hosted by New Mexico.

The Spring native also finished 14th in the long jump with a distance of 6.97 meters.
