Bowlers move to 2nd in New Jersey

With the second day of action in the books at the Hawk Flight Invite, the Sam Houston bowlers stand in second place with one match remaining before bracket play.

The Kats posted a 5-0 record on Saturday and are 8-2 overall. Duquesne leads the field with a 10-0 mark and a 655 pin lead over the Kats. Sam Houston holds a 30-pin advantage over third place Vanderbilt.

Katelyn Dickerson led the way individually for the Kat with a 220 average. Her high game of the day was a 266. The Kats have two other bowlers in the top 10 individually with Bea Hernandez sitting in 9th and Hayley Connelly is 10th. Hernandez bowled a team-high game of 267 and is averaging 218 over five games. Connelly had a high game of 234 and has a 217 average.

Saturday's wins came against No. 17 FDU, No. 22 Monmouth, No. 25 LIU, Saint Francis-New York and Felician.

They have one more match before seeding is determined for the bracket round. The Kats will face No. 24 Wilmington Sunday morning.
