Kats sit in third in New Jersey

On a high scoring day at the Hawk Flight Invitational, the Sam Houston bowlers sit in third place after five games.

The Kats knocked down more than 1,000 pins in all five games on Friday, posting a 3-2 record. Their two losses came by a total of seven pins.

Duquesne leads the field with a 223 average. The Bearkats averaged 210 and trail the top spot by 330 pins.

"The scoring was just crazy today," said head coach Brad Hagen. "We were so close to a 5-0 day. Have to get back at it again on Saturday and continue to put big numbers on the board."

The Kats opened the day with a loss to No. 10 Duquesne by just two pins. They then rattled off wins against New Jersey City, Mercyhurst and No. 4 Vanderbilt, before falling to Caldwell to end the day.

They will continue play on Saturday when they open with No. 17 FDU.
