Fritsch to compete at NCAA indoor championships

INDIANAPOLIS — Sam Houston State junior pole vaulter Clayton Fritsch has qualified to compete in the 2020 NCAA Division I Men's and Women's Indoor Track and Field Championships, the NCAA Track and Field and Cross Country Committee announced Tuesday.

The championships, hosted by the University of New Mexico, will be held March 13-14 at the Albuquerque Convention Center in Albuquerque.

Fritsch is currently seeded eighth in the pole vault with a height of 5.55 meters, which he reached at the Texas A&M Invitational on Feb. 22. South Dakota's Chris Nilsen has the best vault in the country this indoor season at 5.93.
This is the second time Fritsch has qualified for the NCAA indoor championships.

ESPN3 will stream the championships live starting at 6:15 p.m. March 13 and starting at 5 p.m. March 14. A re-air of the championship will take place starting at 8 p.m. March 16 on ESPNU.
