HUNTSVILLE — The Sam Houston State women's tennis team stretched its Southland Conference winning streak to three matches with a 4-3 victory over Abilene Christian Friday at the McAdams Tennis Center.
After dropping the double's point 2-1, the Bearkats (8-4, 3-0) took control in singles play.
Junior
Sahaja Yamalapalli tied the match with a 6-1, 6-0 win over Sarah Adams at No. 1 singles. Senior
Constandena Nicolaou gave SHSU the lead at 2-1 with a 6-1, 6-0 victory in the No. 2 spot over Ileana Mocciola.
Freshman
Emma Goedkoop put the Bearkats in position to win the match with a 6-3, 6-3 win over Claire Fisher at No. 6.
After a loss at No. 3 singles, senior
Lusine Chobanyan clinched the match with a victory at No. 4 singles over Andrea Guerrero 6-4, 6-4.
The Bearkats host Incarnate Word Sunday at 11 a.m.
