HUNTSVILLE — Lamar scored a late second-half goal to hand the Sam Houston soccer team a 2-1 setback Friday evening at Pritchett Field.
The Bearkats (5-8 overall, 3-3 in WAC) took a 1-0 lead in the first half.
Alexis Truitt crossed the ball in front of the goal, and a sliding
Grace Stine toe poked it past Cardinals goalkeeper Nicole Panis to the left side in the 28
th minute.
Lamar (6-6-1, 4-1-1) scored the equalizer in the 37
th minute with a goal by Christine Kitaru. Kitaru later scored the game winner in the 83
rd minute with a floating shot into the top-left corner of the net that Bearkat goalkeeper
Tatum Krueger had no chance at getting a hand on.
Krueger finished with eight saves, while
Landri Townsend led Sam Houston with two shots on goal.
The Bearkats will host UTRGV at Pritchett Field on Sunday at 2 p.m.
