XC teams 18th at NCAA region championships

WACO — The Sam Houston men's and women's cross country teams closed out the season with a solid showing at the NCAA South Central Region Championships held at the Cottonwood Golf Course on Friday.
The men placed 18th out of 37 teams at the regional. Andrew Bosquez led the way by placing 20th with a time of 31:37.9 on the 10K course.
Austin Zirkel finished 70th with a mark of 33:03 and Elijah McWilliams came in 112th with a time of 34:15.5. Kylan Wallace was 117th at 34:26.1, Christian Rivera was 132nd at 35:03.5 and Mario Ruiz placed 146th with a time of 36:12.6.
The women also placed 18th out of 33 teams. Cryslan Tucker was the top finisher with a time of 22:35.3 to come in 64th place on the 6K course.
Rebeca Gonzalez placed 79th with a mark of 22:50, and Sandy Clarkin finished 121st with a time of 23:41.7. Haley Thomas was 139th at 24:14.5, and Ellie Galan was 161st at 25:27.3.
