Â
The Longhorns (5-1) got the lead back to nine, and the two teams traded baskets for a while after that. Texas, however, used a 9-0 run to go up 64-47 with just over seven minutes left in the game to put it out of reach.
Â
The Bearkats got off to a solid start in the opening minutes of the first half, but Texas used several runs to open a 38-28 lead at the half.
Â
Flagg scored two quick baskets sandwiched around 3-pointers by May and Ray to put Sam Houston on top 10-5. After then Longhorns responded with a 7-0 run, Tristan Ikpe laid one off the glass to tie the game at 12, and May gave the Kats the lead at 14-12 with a layup at the 13:31 mark.
