RUSTON, La. – The Sam Houston Bearkat women's basketball team could not get things going on Friday night, falling 77-52 to Louisiana Tech at the Thomas Assembly center.
The Kats (4-4), who were coming off a dramatic buzzer-beater victory over Longwood, put three players in double figures, led by a dozen points from both
Madelyn Batista and
Courtney Cleveland; however, Louisiana Tech (7-2) was too much on its home floor, forcing 25 Bearkat turnovers that resulted in 29 points.
The Lady Techsters had the scoring advantage in all four quarters and dominated the paint by a 50-28 margin, attempting just five 3-pointers in the game while being led by a game-high 26 points from Keiunna Walker.
Faith Cook joined Batista and Cleveland in double figures with 11 points, while
LeAndra Echi got the start and added eight points and a team-high seven rebounds.
The Kats will next head to Alabama for a Monday matinee contest with the Crimson Tide. The game is set for an 11:30 a.m. tipoff and will be streamed on SECN+.
