Kats wrap up SLC Indoor Championships

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. — The Sam Houston women finished sixth and the men seventh at the 2021 Southland Conference Indoor Track and Field Championships at the Birmingham CrossPlex Monday.

Junior Zachary Johnson brought home another medal Monday. He placed second in the triple jump with a leap of 14.90 meters a day after placing third in the long jump.
Freshman KeAyla Dove placed second in the shot put with a throw of 15.15 meters. Senior Halie Daniel was third in the shot put with a toss of 15.07 meters.

Senior Baylee Lara captured fourth place in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 8.80 seconds, and senior Alie Angelo was fifth in the pentathlon with 3,246 points.

Junior Sandy Clarkin placed sixth in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:18.90, and junior Cryslan Tucker finished sixth in the 3,000 meters with a mark of 10:07.16 and seventh in the 5,000 with a time of 17:43.67.

The women's 4x400-meter relay team of Makaylah Halstead, Jasmin Mitchell, Kimberly Carr and Jemia Rabius placed seventh with a time of 3:55.80. The distance medley relay team of Sasha Elizondo, Mitchell, Clarkin and Rebeca Gonzalez also finished seventh with a time of 12:27.87.

On the men's side, senior Andrew Bosquez was fourth in the 3,000 meters with a time of 8:24.63, and he also placed seventh in the 5,000 with a time of 14:28.96.

The men's 4x400 relay team of Cameron Brown, Benjamin Marshall, Erin Brown and Nathaniel McRae finished fourth with a time of 3:16.41.

Sophomore Cobe Graham also placed fourth in the shot put with a toss of 15.83 meters. Freshman Bryce Barbay finished seventh in the heptathlon with 4,674 points.
