Fritsch to vault at NCAA indoor championships

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — Sam Houston junior Clayton Fritsch will compete in the pole vault at the 2021 NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships at the Randal Tyson Center Saturday.

Fritsch, who has qualified for three consecutive NCAA indoor championships, won the men's pole vault at the Southland Conference Indoor Track and Field Championships in Birmingham, Alabama last month.

Fritsch topped his previous best mark this indoor season of 5.42 meters with height of 5.45 meters to win the SLC title. That mark is tied for the ninth best height in the country heading into the NCAA indoor championships.
The men's pole vault finals are set to begin Saturday at 12:30 p.m.

Fritsch was set to compete at nationals last indoor season, but the championships were canceled because of the coronavirus pandemic.
