Kats earn SLC indoor T&F honors

FRISCO — The Sam Houston men's and women's track and field teams had several member earn All-Southland Conference indoor honors for their performances at the league's championships last month.

Senior Clayton Fritsch was a first-team selection after winning the pole vault with his season-best height of 5.45 meters, which is tied for ninth in the country.

Freshman KeAyla Dove placed second in the shot put with a throw of 15.15 meters to earn SLC Freshman Field Athlete of the Year honors as well as second-team All-SLC.

Junior Zachary Johnson was a second-team selection for his silver medal performance in the triple jump with a leap of 14.90 meters. He is also third team for his bronze in the long jump.

Senior Halie Daniel was third in the shot put at the league's championships with a toss of 15.07 meters to earn All-SLC third-team honors.
