Kats post top finishes at Texas Relays

AUSTIN — Led by senior Bryan Henderson's silver medal performance, the Sam Houston men's track and field team posted four top-seven finishes at the Texas Relays Saturday at Mike A. Myers Stadium.

Henderson crossed the finish line in 10.29, which was also the same time he posted to qualify for the finals. Henderson currently has fastest time in the 100 in the Southland Conference when he ran it in 10.24 at the Cougar Spring Break Invitational last weekend.

Senior Joshua Smith placed fourth in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 51.58. He set a new personal record in the event at 51.28 in the qualifying round, which is also the fast time in the conference.

Junior Clayton Fritsch finished seventh in the men's Elite pole vault with a height of 5.50 meters, which tied for the fifth best mark but it took fewer attempts to clear for two other competitors. It is the top vault in the league.

Sophomore Denzel Downing took seventh in the 110 hurdles with a time of 14.28. He qualified 8^th with a clocking of 14.18, which is one of the fastest times in the SLC this outdoor season.
