Lampley receives SLC academic honor

FRISCO — Sam Houston senior Demarkus Lampley has been named to the Southland Conference All-Academic teams, the league office announced Tuesday.
Lampley landed on the all-academic first team. To qualify for the all-academic teams, a student-athlete must have a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or above.
The Phenix City, Alabama native had a breakout season on the way to earning first-team All-Southland Conference and NABC second-team All-District 22 honors. Lampley averaged 14.61 points per game, which was 11th in the conference. He was second in the SLC in 3-point shooting percentage at 39.9 percent.
Lampley earned one SLC Player of the Week honor this past season. He scored in double figures in 21 games and scored a career-high 30 points in a win over ACU in January.
