ABILENE — The Sam Houston tennis team capped a two-match road trip with a 5-2 victory over Abilene Christian at the Abilene Country Club Sunday afternoon.
After the Bearkats (7-2 overall, 3-0 in SLC) won the doubles point and three singles matches, freshman
Sahithi Vutukuru clinched the victory with a 2-6, 6-2, 7-5 win over Ileana Mocciola at No. 5 singles.

Sahaja Yamalapalli once again cruised at No. 1 singles. She topped Nini Memishishi 6-1, 6-1 to improve to 8-0 on the season.

Karla De La Luz Montalvo (6-3) defeated Maryjoe Crisologo 6-0, 6-2 in No. 3 singles action, and senior
Constandena Nicolaou battled Allison Stewart for a 7-5, 4-6, 6-4 win in the No. 4 spot to remain unbeaten at 7-0 this season.

The Bearkats will once again be on the road next week. Sam Houston will face Lamar in Beaumont on Friday at 1 p.m. and head to Texas A&M-Corpus Christi March 14 for an 11 a.m. match.
