DeLozier earns SLC weekly keeper honor

FRISCO — Sam Houston junior Abby DeLozier had back-to-back spectacular performances in the net last week and has been named the Southland Conference Goalkeeper of the Week, the league announced Tuesday morning.

The McKinney product recorded two shutouts on the road to help Sam Houston improve to 1-0-1 on the season.

She had six saves in the Bearkats' 0-0 tie in double overtime against Southeastern Louisiana March 5. She followed that with six more saves in Sam Houston's 4-0 win over Nicholls on March 7.

DeLozier has not allowed a goal in 200 consecutive minutes while facing 34 shots.

Defender April Bennett was named honorable mention Defensive Player of the Week for her play in the Bearkats' two shutouts. She also scored Sam Houston's first goal of the season in the 4-0 victory over Nicholls which proved to be the game winner.
