Bearkats place three on All-Southland team

The Bearkats placed three bowlers on the Southland Bowling League all-league team on Friday highlighted by freshman Denise Blankenzee who was a first-team selection.

Bea Hernandez and Elise Chambers were both chosen to the Southland second team.

Blankenzee, a freshman from Julianadorp, Netherlands, was already named the Southland Conference Newcomer of the Year and the Bowler of the Year, sweeping both awards for the first time in league history.

This season She lead the team with a 210 traditional scoring average and had a season high game of 268. In seven regular season events this season she finished in the top 5 in five of them. She won the individual title at the La Tech Invitational.

Hernandez, a sophomore from Manila, Philippines, finished the year with a 196 scoring average in traditional games and had a season high of 247. In six events this season, she had a high finished of third at the La Tech Invitational.

Chambers, a sophomore from Ocoee, Florida, had a 192 average this season and a high game of 247. This year she had a runner up finish at the Mid-Winter Classic and recorded two other top 10 finishes this season.

They helped lead the Bearkats to a semifinal finish at the Southland Conference Championships and the Regional Finals of the NCAA Championship. It was the 9th appearance in the elast 10 NCAA Championships for the Bearkats.
