HUNTSVILLE — Head coach Jason Hooten and the Sam Houston State men's basketball team have made another addition to their squad for the 2021-22 season, bringing in graduate transfer Kuba Karwowski from Utah State.
Â
The 7-2 center from Warsaw, Poland averaged 2.2 points and 2.6 rebounds per game in two seasons at Utah State. He was limited to just 19 games for the Aggies due to injury and the coronavirus pandemic.
Â
"Obviously, we really like his size, but he can get out and run and has good hands," Hooten said. "He has a high basketball IQ and can really pass. Kuba's skills and ability to move around will really play well in our offensive scheme, and defensively, he gives us a shot blocker and basket presence.
Â
"He has been stuck behind a potential NBA draft pick (Neemias Queta) at Utah State, and we feel like with the opportunity to play more he can be very good." Â
Â
Karwowski signed with Utah State after playing two years at North Platte Community College in Nebraska. He appeared in 55 games and started 42 for the Knights and averaged a near double-double with 9.7 points and 8.9 rebounds per game as a sophomore.
