The Sam Houston softball team used the first two innings in game three of the series to pull away from Houston Baptist as they scored two runs in each and never looked back at the Bearkat Softball Complex on Saturday afternoon.
The Bearkats (8-20, 5-7) reached home in the first inning off of an HBU (11-10, 4-8) fielding error. Senior
Kayte Martinez and junior
Sheridan Fisher managed to get home after an errant throw that went into right field.
They followed that up in the second inning when
Kayte Martinez grounded out to the Husky short stop but another Husky throwing error sent freshman
Emily Telg home. Senior
Megan McDonald followed that up with an RBI single to left center that scored Fisher.
Freshman pitcher
Taylor Bachmeyer had a stellar outing going 5.1 innings only allowing three Husky hits and striking out six.
Mika Vento closed the game out in the final 1.2 innings striking out 3 Huskies.
Next up the Bearkats will host the Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns at the Bearkat Softball Complex on Tuesday, April sixth at 6:30.
