Kats advance to NCAA outdoor championships

COLLEGE STATION — The Sam Houston men's track and field team had three individuals and a relay team advance to NCAA Outdoor National Championships following the West Preliminary meet at E.B. Cushing Stadium May 26-29.

Bryan Henderson had the third-best time in the 100-meter dash to punch his ticket to Eugene, Oregon on June 9-12. His mark of 10.12 seconds was a personal best.

Henderson also teamed with Eric Callaway, Nathaniel McRae and Denzel Downing to qualify for nationals in the 4x100-meter relay with a time of 39.68.

Joshua Smith ran his fastest time and broke the school record in the 400-meter hurdles. His mark of 49.70 seconds was the seventh best at the West Preliminary.

Clayton Fritsch is headed to the national championships for the third straight year in the pole vault. He turned in a height of 5.45 meters.
