Soccer releases 2021 schedule

HUNTSVILLE – The Sam Houston soccer team released its schedule for the 2021 season on Thursday with seven matches set to be played in Huntsville, including five WAC matches to mark the Bearkats' first season in the league.

The Kats are coming off a season that saw them close out their time in the Southland Conference in style, advancing to the championship match of the Southland Tournament and finishing with a 7-6-1 record.

Single-game tickets for Bearkat Soccer will be available near the beginning of the season and will be able to be purchased at GoBearkats.com or by calling the Bearkat Ticket Office.

Head coach Tom Brown's team will open up the 2021 season with an exhibition in Frisco against Missouri on August 10 before taking the field for the first official matches on the road at Rice (Aug 19) and LSU (Aug 22).

The home season starts on August 27 when the Kats host Grambling and two days later take on former Southland rival McNeese at Pritchett Field.

Sam Houston will spend the entire month of September on the road with five road matches, including opening up WAC play at Stephen F. Austin (Sept 24) and UTRGV (Sept 30). It will not play a WAC match at home until hosting Chicago State on October 8, kicking off a stretch of four straight home matches, concluding when it hosts UTRGV on October 17.

Road trips to Abilene Christian (October 22) and Chicago State (October 24) conclude road play ahead of the regular-season finale, set for October 30 when the Kats host Piney Woods rival SFA.

The WAC Tournament is set for the following week at a site still to be announced.
