BATON ROUGE, La. — The Sam Houston soccer team was unable to get anything going offensively in a 8-0 loss to LSU Sunday at LSU Soccer Stadium.
Tinaya Alexander scored a hat trick in the first half, and Alesia Garcia had one in the second half to help the Tigers pull away.
Alexander gave LSU a 1-0 lead off an assist by Maya Gordon in the 19
th minute. She made it 2-0 on a goal off a rebound four minutes later and scored her third goal in the 30
th minute.
Garcia scored a pair of goals in just over a minute five minutes into the second period and got her third in the 86
th minute. Garcia also had an assist on a goal by Grace Haggerty in the 78
th minute.
Alexander added her fourth goal of the match off an assist by Athena Kuehn with a minute and a half to go in the match.
The Bearkats had a goal taken off the board in the final minutes of the first half because of a hand ball.
Jade Dewbre had a one on one with the goalie, but a deflection hit her elbow that nullified the score as she broke away for a wide-open goal.

Abby DeLozier finished with 14 saves while facing 22 shots on goal.
The Bearkats will play their first two home matches of the season this weekend. Sam Houston will host Grambling on Friday at 5 p.m. and McNeese on Sunday at 6:30 p.m.
