HOUSTON – The Sam Houston Bearkats took the first set, but could not get much going after that in a 3-1 loss to LSU at Tudor Fieldhouse on the first day of the Adidas Invitational.
Ashley Lewis finished with 13 kills to lead the Bearkats (6-2), who were playing the Tigers (3-3) for the first time since 1986.
Morgan Janda had 35 assists and 13 digs, while
Breanne Chausse had 12 kills and
Catherine Krieger had 11 to reach double figures.
The Kats hit .419 in the opening set with 15 kills in a 25-18 win, but after that was not able to hit better than .162 in a set.
Sam Houston will get another tough test on Sunday at 1:00 p.m. in the conclusion of the Adidas Invitational when it takes on Rice.
