Bearkats fall to No. 18 Texas A&M

COLLEGE STATION — No. 18 Texas A&M placed its shots where they were hard to defend to top the Sam Houston soccer team 5-0 at Ellis Field on Friday evening.

The Aggies took the lead in the first three minutes of the match when Kendall Bates scored off an assist by Mia Pante.

Kate Colvin made it 2-0 in the 11th minute. She powered a shot from the top of the box over a leaping Abby DeLozier into the top middle of the net.

The Aggies (2-2) scored their third goal off a corner kick in the 33rd minute. Natalie Abel lobbed the ball into the box and Daria Britton found the back of the net to make it 3-0.

Texas A&M's fourth goal came off a ricochet in the 36th minute. DeLozier was able to knock away a shot by Ali Russell, but Abel was right there to sneak it just inside the right post for the score.

Abel assisted with another goal off a corner kick to increase the lead to 5-0 in the 62nd minute. Abel sent the ball into the top left of the box and Carissa Boeckmann put the ball into the top-left corner of the net where goalkeeper Tatum Krueger had no chance to defend it.

Krueger did make a great save on a penalty kick, one of her five on the night. DeLozier finished with six saves as the Aggies took 32 shots compared to four by Sam Houston (2-3).
